Martin emulates the values of the organisation during a time when we are experiencing an acute shortage of anaesthetic technicians. He has worked tirelessly to help minimise the potential impact of this on patients. He has done this by being heavily involved in overseas recruitment of Anaesthetic Technicians. He has engaged with candidates in conversations about Auckland DHB, Auckland and New Zealand, as well as following up with candidates when they hadn’t been heard from in a while. Martin has been acting as a mentor to many of new overseas recruits, making them feel supported and welcomed to their new home and workplace. Martin has also been instrumental in our current research project where we are identifying other countries as a potential recruitment pool for anaesthetic technicians. Martin has been corresponding with Argentinian trained techs and their university tutor to establish understanding of their exact qualification.
