“Early this year, I was admitted to Auckland City Hospital for a urology procedure. Although I had concerns over risks and complications, I was reassured by the professional and friendly manner of all staff.
“I cannot speak highly enough of those doctors, nurses, and administrative staff whom I encountered during my brief stay.
“The level of care and attention expected by all patients who enter your doors would be enormous, yet the people that I encountered displayed care and attention that couldn’t be faulted.
“This, in addition to clear communication from every staff member with whom I dealt, added significantly to my feeling of wellbeing.
“There are many stories in the media of what occasionally goes wrong, but very seldom any mention of how well your service works – as it frequently does.“Please accept this letter as an acknowledgement of the hard work and diligent efforts of your staff and an expression of my gratitude for what I received through the public health system.”
