Industrial Action APEX Union Medical Physicists - Monday 16 May – Sunday 10 July

Our APEX union Medical Physicists are taking industrial action from Monday 16 May – Sunday 10 July.

During this time, our Physicists will spend a maximum of four hours per day plan checking and will not provide support for the following activities on radiation treatment and imaging devices outside of 9am – 3.30pm Monday to Friday:

  • Machine quality assurance
  • Post maintenance quality assurance
  • Patient-specific quality assurance
  • Calibrations
  • Device breakdowns.

Medical physicists are highly trained professionals who help plan radiation treatment for patients, check and monitor radiation equipment, and develop new treatment techniques.

Patient safety remains our priority. If you are a patient, please come to your scheduled appointment unless we have contacted you directly to say your appointment is being rescheduled.

In an emergency, call 111 immediately.

Our medical physicists are a highly valued part of our workforce, committed to caring for our patients. We respect their right to take industrial action and know the decision to strike is a very difficult one to make.
