Christmas in the Park
Christmas in the Park (external link) takes place on 8 December 2018 in the Auckland Domain (rain day 9 December). The event is a lot of fun for those attending but does have an impact on the roads surrounding Auckland City Hospital and Starship Hospital.
Auckland City Hospital and Starship Hospital are both open and operating as normal during Christmas in the Park, including our busy emergency departments.
Road closures will be in place but you will be able to access the hospitals at all times. Additional security will be on site.
We suggest you use the Grafton Road entrance and exit to avoid the traffic.
Road closures affecting hospital access:
Park Road and the surrounding streets will be closed from 4 pm until 11.30pm
Grafton Bridge access will be closed to public vehicles on the event day, from 4 pm until 11:30pm. It will remain open only for pedestrians, cyclists and emergency services between those times.
All timings relate to Saturday, 8 December 2018 (or Sunday 9 December if the rain day is activated).
If you are travelling to the hospital using public transport there are some detours and bus stop changes as a result of the event. Additional buses and trains will also be running. You can find all the details on the Auckland Transport Website. (external link)
If the event is moved to the rain date of Sunday 9 December, public transport will be operating to a Sunday timetable and some special event bus and train services will not operate.
Our hospital car parks are not available for event parking. If you are going to the event, please keep our car parks free for those who need them for our hospital services.
